《人生複本》被譽為十年來最好的科幻小說之一，故事聚焦人生中未被選擇的道路。 劇集圍繞Jason Dessen（喬爾·埃哲頓 Joel Edgerton 飾）展開，他是一位物理學家、教授，也是個戀家的男人。有一天夜裏，從芝加哥街頭步行回家時，Jason被綁架進入了自己人生的另一個版本。麵對自己可能經曆的多元人生，他試圖回到原本的現實裏，奇事迅速成了場噩夢。在這重重現實迷宮中，Jason踏上了一段痛苦的旅程，以期回到真正的家人身邊，並從他自己——一個最可怕又不可戰勝的敵人手中，把家人拯救出來。
