故事發生在一間巨大陰森的莊園之中，鮑迪先生（Lee Ving 飾）是莊園的主人，他邀請了六位客人來到他的莊園做客，他們是普朗姆教授（克裏斯托弗·洛伊德 Christopher Lloyd 飾）、格林先生（邁克爾·麥基恩 Michael McKean 飾）、皮考克太太（艾琳·布倫南 Eileen Brennan 飾）、懷特夫人（瑪德蓮·卡恩 Madeline Kahn 飾）和馬斯塔德上校（馬丁·穆爾 Martin Mull 飾）。
正當六人在大廳中齊聚一堂之時，燈光突然熄滅了，而當光明再度來領之時，在他們眼前出現的，居然是莊園主人鮑迪先生的屍體，這也就意味著，在這間莊園之中，隱藏了一個冷酷血腥的殺手。六位客人聯起手來，試圖找出這名殺手，而在此過程中，又不斷的有人被害。真正的凶手究竟藏在哪裏？
